Lately I've been trying to decide if I want to buy myself a Play
Station 2 or an Xbox this year. So many options, so many choices ... then I read
something interesting:
GATES SAYS "HUMBUG!" TO ARTISTS
By Vlad, Garageband Records ([email protected])
So I was reading the NY Times regarding
Microsoft's refusal to pay artists (the articles talks in the thousands) whose
music is used in various Xbox games. Supposedly, the bands are just supposed
to be satisfied with all the free promotion to teen game players istead of the
reported $10,000 to $20,000 fee typically paid for such use. I found this
downright insulting to all artists, especially from a company with over $36
billion in cash reserves (that's 36,000,000,000!). Funny, it seems that this
type of offer isn't good enough for Madonna who opted for the millions of dollars
being paid by Gates for the use of her music in the Windows XP marketing
blitz. Still chump change from the Scrooge of 2001!
As an artist and a not-so-big-fan of large, greedy corporations who
have nothing better to do than to fuck their fellow man, it's clear to see that
I'll be buying a Play Station 2 this year.
And on a lighter note:
i just wanna
let u know that i really admire u!!! u r an extremely unique individual.....n
even though i do not agree with everything u believe in.....i respect u for
living what u preach unlike the majority of Catholics and other religions out
there!!! i wanna thank u for letting me c that i don't have to take shit from
anyone...i don't have to believe what everyone else does......i can believe
what best suits me and who i am!!!! thank u so much i am eternally grateful!!!

You're very welcome, Ligeia.
And even though I don't believe in, nor celebrate the ideas behind the
holiday season, I still want to wish everyone a happy beheaded turkey day.
